There are numerous tourist attractions in this city and the county of Oxfordshire, and you can easily find your short-term let somewhere nearby. Bicester Village, the world-famous designer outlet shopping is located on the outskirts of Bicester. Listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the first museum in the world, the Ashmolean Museum is filled with ancient and modern art and antiquities all about world civilisations. The UK’s only crocodile zoo, the oldest Botanic Garden in the world, the world’s oldest public museum, the Covered Market, Christ Church College, Oxford Castle, and Radcliffe Square are all here!

Oxford University

Oxford, a city in central southern England, revolves around its prestigious university, established in the 12th century. The value of Oxford University is universally acknowledged which makes it popular to visit as a tourist or even a student. Therefore, if you are looking for a short-term let in Oxford and near its university, we are here for you. You can find wonderful serviced accommodation that fits your budget around the university and enjoy the academic atmosphere and the history behind the glorious architecture. But there is more than that.

The architecture of its 38 colleges in the city’s medieval centre led poet Matthew Arnold to nickname it the 'City of Dreaming Spires'. University College and Magdalen College are off the High Street, which runs from Carfax Tower (with city views) to the Botanic Garden on the River Cherwell. This being said, there's a reason why a great number of visitors flock back to Oxford every year. It might be Oxford University and its many colleges, but the truth is there's more to Oxford than academia. Whatever your touristic plans are, there's always something to take you by surprise and entertain you.

Enjoy Oxford’s Theaters

It goes without saying that Oxford is also a city of arts and culture, at least partly represented by its top theatres: New Theatre Oxford, North Wall Arts Centre, and Sheldonian Theatre. These theatres usually feature a number of shows throughout the week (the best shows are usually featured on weekends). There are a wide variety of performances from Broadway to British drama and renditions of Shakespearean classics. Interestingly enough, Oxford’s picturesque buildings and locations have provided settings for countless international films including Harry Potter filmed at Christ Church and James Bond’s Spectre filmed at Blenheim Palace, as well as Downton Abbey, Midsomer Murders, and Inspector Morse, among many others. So, what can be more exciting than staying near a Harry Potter or James Bond spot? Book a serviced accommodation there and enjoy!

North Gate

Want to enjoy splendid views of different locations around the city? There are three towers you can go up to gaze out at the city: the University Church of St Mary the Virgin and St Michael at the North Gate. For amazing views of the colleges in the vicinity, St Mary the Virgin would be the best. If you wish to enjoy the breathtaking views of the Cornmarket, as well the spires of various Oxford buildings, you're highly recommended to visit St Michael at the North Gate. And the last but not least is Carfax Tower offering superb views over the city.

Oxford Transportation

The best way to get around the city might be walking on the pedestrian-friendly streets. The main touristic landmarks and attractions are jam-packed in the city, so you can always explore all on foot. However, the city offers easy-to-get-on local bus services. There are two public bus companies operating in Oxford (the Oxford Bus Company and Stagecoach) to help you have easy access to your short-term let and around the city.  If you use buses regularly, the easiest way to use both services is to buy a day pass for about £4. If you choose to take a taxi, you have two options: traditional London/Hackney style cabs which you can flag down on the street, and licensed "mini cabs" which are standard cars, but are only allowed to pick up passengers who have made a booking by phone. If you have access to a phone, mini cabs are a considerably cheaper option.
